EDP ( ETHIOPIA DEAF PROJECT)
Organiser of AMBO RAMBLE CYCLE
EDP is a 100% voluntary group, ever cent raised goes directly to a school for deaf children in Ambo Ethiopia.
Last year the money raised was used for:- The installation of water tanks, to provide clean water and then at Christmas we were able to give the children new shoes. The building of a resource room to enable different methods of teaching. Uniforms and school bags.
This is a very personal charity, we know all the children. Then every cent raised is so hard come by that you can be sure we know where every cent goes.
Visits to the countryside have shown us that there are up to 200 deaf families living In the surrounding countryside. Up to 80 of these are children who would be eligible to attend the school. These children are now living in total Isolation. A recent meeting with some of these families have shown us that most of these children do not even know their name.
We are currently in the process of sourcing funding to build a boarding house to allow these children come to school.
So that’s one Project for this year….
Another is trying to set up a Bee colony, we started a trial with 2 hive and it is working very well. We now hope to introduce 50 hive and through this give employment and start an income generating project for the school.
