SRAC Atlantic Challenge Cycle

Online Registration is open for the SRAC Atlantic Challenge. Two routes to choose from, 80km and 125km over the Cliffs of Moher, Wild Atlantic Way, the Burren and the Corkscrew Hill.
Cycle with Stephen Roche, Sean Kelly, Malcolm Elliott and Phil Anderson and 3,000 cyclists.
WHAT IS THE ATLANTIC CHALLENGE CYCLE?
The SRAC Atlantic Challenge is Ireland’s most popular cycle. It is an opportunity to cycle the most scenic route in Ireland with legend cyclist Stephen Roche and other guests.
In 2017, over 3,000 cyclists from 24 countries cycled with the 1987 Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and World Champion winner, Stephen Roche and legend cyclist Sean Kelly.
Described by lonely planet as the 5th best cycling route in the world, the cycle starts and finishes in Ennistymon, Co Clare, Ireland. The scenic cycle route along the Wild Atlantic Way coastline, the Burren, Lahinch Beach, the famous Cliffs of Moher and Corkscrew Hill, this cycle has it all.
The last event sold out within 2 weeks, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment.
HOW MUCH IS THE EVENT TO ENTER?
Early Bird Entry Fee is €30 with a Cycling Ireland or UCI Licence. Normal Entry €40
There is an additional €5 for a Day Licence if you do not have a Cycling Ireland Licence. A day licence is required if you do not have a Cycling Ireland or a UCI cycling licence. The €5 goes directly to Cycling Ireland. Please note: Triathlon Ireland Licences are not valid and must purchase a day licence.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHARITY?
The Registration page allows you make a donation to charitiy. The event charity is Seeking Vision, a registered charity for the viually impaired and blind of Clare. 100% of your donation goes directly to the charity.
IS THERE AN EVENT JERSEY AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE?
Yes. 100% of the money collected from the sale of the event jersey go directly to the charity and not the SRAC. Please check Facebook for images and sizing chart, There is no refund available on the jersey. The size you order will be the size delivered and cannot be changed. Please note, Jerseys not collected at the event are donated to charity to raise funds.
ARE THERE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER?
Due to the challenging nature of the route a high level of fitness is required. If you have not participated in a physical activity for some time please consult your GP before embarking on a training programme for this event
All participants must be aged 16 or over on the day of the cycle.
All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Each participant, upon registration agrees that they are physically and mentally capable of riding the route.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?
HELMET – All participants must wear a safety approved cycle helmet at all times when cycling. Anyone without a helmet will not be able to participate and is considered not to be a part of the cycle.
WATERBOTTLE & ENERGY SNACKS – Refreshments will be provided en-route and at the finish area but participants are advised to carry their own extra food and drinks.
MOBILE PHONE WITH CREDIT – Participants may not use a mobile phone while cycling. You must stop at the side of the road if you need to make or receive a call.
EMERGENCY MONEY & ID
WIND / RAINPROOF TOP – Cyclists must be aware that weather conditions in this area can change and you should bring appropriate clothing to keep warm in any adverse weather.
PUMP & SPARE TUBES – Participants are advised to carry a pump and spare tubes and/or a puncture repair kit.
All bicycles should be in a well-maintained, road-worthy condition. No Tri Bars allowed on bikes.
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
Please note that entry fees and jersey purchases are not refundable under any circumstances.
DO I HAVE TO BRING MY PRINTED TICKET TO THE EVENT?
Yes, please bring a copy of the ticket or use the ticketless option by adding to wallet app on your phone
IS MY REGISTRATION TRANSFERABLE?
NO. It is not possible to transfer your registration.
You may NOT ride under someone else’s registration under any circumstances.
CAN I REGISTER ON THE DAY?
NO. This event sold out in 2 weeks in 2017. There is no registration available on the day.
ARE THERE SHOWERS AVAILABLE AFTER THE EVENT?
YES – showers are available at the Ennistymon Community Centre.
IS THERE FIRST AID?
YES – Ambulances and mobile paramedics will be available all day, should anyone require medical assistance it will be administered in the fastest possible timeframe. Please call the emergency contact number provided on the day for medical emergencies.
WHERE IS THE NEAREST ACCOMODATION?
The Falls Hotel in Ennistymon is the most convenient location. Tel. + 353 65 707 1004. There also lots of B&B’s in Lahinch and Ennistymon.
The main town of Ennis is located 25 mins away with lots of Hotels, B&B’s, Hostels and night life.
WHAT IS THE NEAREST AIRPORT?
Shannon Airport is the nearest international airport and only 35 mins away. It is served by Ryanair and Aer Lingus, British Airways as well as numerous other European and USA airlines.
